Do native plants and perennials make good cut flower bouquets?
Yes!
Here’s a look at my mostly native bouquet from Spring.
Made of mostly native perennials this bouquet features blue stars, bright yellow baptisia and pink phlox pilosa.
Foliage fillers include blue stars, Lonicera sempervirens vine, Fothergilla, jasmine vine and Nandinia ‘Obsession.’ The last two are non-native.
The Amsonia tabernaemontana (blue stars) and Phlox pilosa hung on the longest in the bouquet as well as the jasmine and fothergilla sprigs.
What I love most about this bouquet are the three complimentary pastel colors and the little pop of red from the coral honeysuckle blooms and Nandinia foliage.
