Fall Colors Card

I wanted to use fall colors for this card without necessarily using a traditional fall theme like maple leaves or pumpkins.

This Altenew Dynamic Duo: Luscious Flora outline stamp and (2) stencil set work perfectly together with the three dye ink colors I chose from Concord & 9th: Creamsicle, Spiced Cider and Avocado.

The leaves of this Dynamic Duo set are reminiscent more of the ginkgo biloba tree in my opinion. The beautiful pattern is achieved by using Stencil 1 with Concord & 9th’s Spiced Cider and Creamsicle for the ‘flowers’ and with Stencil 2, Avocado for the leaves. These were applied with ink blending brushes. And I used my Misti platform with Waffle Flower’s 6.5″ x 8.5″ Grip Mat to keep my cardstock fixed in place with the stencils over top (also fixed in place by the mat’s grip) as to avoid shifting of the stencils.

Next, I used the stem stamp to outline all of the beautiful, delicate flowers in my go-to black ink, Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink. ( Be advised this is pigment ink so it can smear if you work with it too fast) This Dynamic Duo set comes with the stem image plus four positive sentiments of encouragement.

I ended up adding another sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s set called Mondo Magnoloa which I went over with the subtle sparkle from atyouSpica Twinkling like Stars! pen in Pitch Black. I also used this pen to ink in and add sparkle to the thicker lines of the stamped image. It’s not noticeable in the photos and is subtle in person too. But that’s okay with me. Not every card needs super sparkle.

I wanted the feel of falling leaves with warm, cozy colors without it being too holiday specific and I think this comes together simply and nicely. The two orange tones complement each other, as well as with the rich, earthy green of Avocado.

What are your favorite fall color trios?
