Go for Pink

Go for Pink

October is for fall color and pumpkins, but it’s also for pink!

With two of these card designs I once again went for the classic pairing of pink and black while also keeping to very clean white backgrounds and empty space.

In this first card I stamped black flowers and leaves from Altenew’s Beautiful Day Layering Stamps and Dies Set onto white cardstock. The main feature of the card is three butterflies from Spellbinders Grand Shapeabilities Wonderful Wings die set. The background layers of the butterflies are cut from Altenew’s Wildflower patterned card stock pack and feature lovely shades of pink. The top layers are cut in Tonic Studios Black Sapphire glitter cardstock. Embellishment is added with Altenew’s Snowing mini stamp in Versafine Onyx pigment ink. To see more cards using this die set look here.

In the following card I used some miscellaneous die cut ‘scraps’ that I had saved from other projects and project attempts. In the center though is a large, beautiful, die cut flower from Altenew’s Sunshine Flowers: Stamps, Dies, Stencils and Embossing Folder Set (Project Kit). The stamped flower petals were inked with Concord & 9th’s Pink Lemonade (I think) and the center with C9’s Stardust and Gink K’s Sweet Corn.

For the botanical arrangement I used die cuts from Papertrey Ink’s Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs and also stamped die cuts from Altenew’s Beautiful Day, which is a set used in every card of this post. There may be some other die sets used here. I just wanted to use up some of what I already had! I couldn’t help adding a little bit of black accents on this one too!

Pink can also mean a color close to pink as you’ll see in the card below that uses Pinkfresh Studio’s Peach Fuzz dye ink, which easily became one of my favorite light shade, warm colored inks. The floral arrangement on this card is all from the Beautiful Day stamp and die set. The flower is stamped in Peach Fuzz while the leaves are stamped in Catherine Pooler’s Spruce. The background is cut using Nested Rectangles Postage Edge from Pinkfresh. The sentiment is from Ellen Hutson’s Hello My Friend, Stamp and Die Combo by Heather.

Each of these cards shows off some black and pink or black and pink-ish combinations. In using layered die cut designs (like the butterflies) or layering several dies together (like the foliage), you can add dimension and interest to your cards.

I almost exclusively use the Anna Griffin Empress Elite Die Cutting Machine which I highly recommend (even the smaller versions) if your card making involves a lot of die cutting images or you enjoy making larger projects with multiple cards and sets.

What ink shades of pink do you like best? Do you include pinks in your fall cards? What cards have you designed with a classic pairing like pink and black?
