I’m continuing to create holiday cards with Concord & 9th (C9)’s Ornamental Die & Stamp Set in this week’s craft project.

We made backgrounds using C9’s Deck the Halls Turnabout™ Stamp. In my first set of cards we die cut the backgrounds with the ornament die for a colorful ornament centerpiece. See this post here. Now we are going to emboss white cardstock, cut these into ornaments, and center them on the stamped background. For another variation I layered a die cut tag on a piece of embossed cardstock to add dimension to the card, while also featuring more of the background.

Choosing the right color sentiment or even sentiment design is not always easy. I don’t always like to overly match the colors in my turnabout background to my final sentiment. If I feel black is too strong for a larger sentiment my alternative is C9’s Mushroom dye ink, a deep grey- brown.
I also experiment with different tones of the same colors used in the background to add an accent versus a match. For instance if my background includes a green ink and the ink is a darker tone like C9’s Artichoke, I might use a sentiment stamped in a lighter tone like Pistachio, or vice versa.

Some color combinations that I enjoyed using for this turnabout stamp are as follows:
C9’s Midnight, Powder, Avocado, and Pebble
C9’s Evergreen, Grapefruit, Ballet Slipper and Gink K’s Sweet Corn
C9’s Artichoke, Avocado, Aqua Sky and Pebble

For a softer look I chose C9’s Nectar, Briar Rose, Sea Glass and Rainforest. The ‘Merry’ sentiment is stamped in Rainforest also as most of the background colors are lightly toned as this is a nice accent.

The following cards feature the stamped sentiment and ornament design from the same Ornamental Die & Stamp Set by C9. For the background I used white cardstock embossed with a holiday image. I die cut floral elements and the ornament topper in silver and gold cardstock to add some shine. Otherwise a very simple card.

Hope you find a great stamp and die set for your holiday cards! Concord and 9th have an annual stock clearance sale in June and that’s a great time to pick up discounts on holiday sets for your projects. Or catch a new release this season as Concord and 9th celebrates 10 years!!
