I can’t think of anything better than a beautiful view. Art, like a painting, can provide perspective, intimacy, depth, contemplation, unraveling. But an open air landscape view is even more important to the psyche.

Here is one artistic interpretation of a beautiful view. How it reminds of the tactile things that one enjoys. The moon rising above the soft, sloping hills. Perhaps you can hear the call of an owl, breath the comforting smell of a forest and feel the peaceful space it brings.

Through the arch way you are transported to a place where you can feel the textures of the grasses and reeds and observe how they move in the breeze. The air is crisp, pleasant and relaxing. You are a visitor to this place. You are allowed to activate your imagination and feel transported.
For the card maker your task is building the scene, playing with color, selecting your frames, doing quite a bit of gluing, and capturing the recipient’s imagination.
I have two ‘landscape’ die sets. One that has the pieces broken apart and can be run through a die cutting machine separately. This is Concord & 9th’s O Night Divine Dies which is a Christmas themed die that serves for other scenes also. The other is Ellen Hutson Designs’ Abstract Island by Heather, which is one complete die that must be run through with each color cardstock that you choose to use. The cardstock pieces then fit together like a puzzle that you glue to another piece of cardstock.

The finished cards were all made using Concord & 9th card stock plus Simon Says Stamp Ivory card stock and gold metallic card stock (I’d recommend Lawn Fawn, Altenew or Simon Says Stamp brands for the gold). The Arches die set are from Ellen Hutson Designs. The embossing folders are from Altenew, Richard Garay, Concord & 9th and Cuttlebug.

What a great base for Father’s day cards and summer guy (husbands, sons, nephews, fathers) birthdays. It’s better than kitsch fishing rods of golf clubs. No one isn’t moved by a view. And this one is lovingly created in paper.

The other frames that I used are Pinkfresh Studio’s Nested Squares: Diagonal Stich. The square shape cuts the scene down a bit but the shoreline and colorful hills and valleys are still present.

A beautiful view opens the mind and reduces blood pressure. It activates the imagination. It has power. With this in mind I created my own sentiments on Canva that I printed, cut and then pasted to the card front. These sentiments offer encouragement and contemplation.

The landscape scene can be tasked for many occasions. I imagine the viewer looking out from a veranda through the arch way into a sunset or sunrise. Possibilities are on the horizon. I would love to find more crafting dies like these with different types of landscapes. I think that they are very versatile and a welcome addition to the crafter’s collection.

What sentiments will you add? Where is your imagination transported?
