This card is inspired by Jeff Lindberg’s Concord & 9th color combo featuring Pebble, Tidepool, Juniper, Blueberry and Midnight.

1. I stamped Altenew’s Rosie Posy stamp with each of the C9 colors, duplicating a couple colors, and created a background.

2. Next I used Essential Arches by Heather in the Essentials by Ellen Series to cut out the stamped background and also a piece of Midnight cardstock. This Arches set includes 15 (!!) dies on two magnetic sheets that fit perfectly together so that the arches may be layered to 1/8 of an inch.

I have to admit that I didn’t realize that this die set had two sheets of arch dies as they were packed nicely together in their plastic sleeve. Such a bonus when I discovered just how comprehensive this die set is! Not all simple shape die sets layer to 1/8 of an inch, so something to watch for when purchasing.

3. I then decided to make two cards using the various die cuts as I was experimenting with size and fit so had several cuts to choose from. For backgrounds I dry embossed white card stock, one with a simple polka dot pattern by Darice and the other using Spellbinders Optical Arches embossing folder.
Another great thing about the Essential Arches is that they can be used for an A7 (5×7) card or your standard A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) card. I see this easily being used when making a more formal wedding congratulatory card. Also to note is that the Spellbinders Optical Arches embossing folder is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches and is also large enough to be a base for an A7 card.

4. I felt like there needed to be some floral elements so I used Papertry Ink’s Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs. Why this one? It’s the only set that I have like this! I will definitely be adding more Papertry Ink floral die cut sets to my wish list. I have gotten so much use out of them! But I also gravitate more towards ‘botanical’ themed cards.

Probably hard to tell from the photos, but what looks like it could be Tidepool cardstock is actually Sea Glass as I do not have Tidepool of Juniper cardstock yet. So my floral bundles are made of die cuts using white, Midnight, Pebble and Sea Glass card stock.

5. The sentiments are always a difficult choice for me. I decided on ‘general’ expressions. These are from Ellen Hutson’s Mondo Magnolia set. I used a tuxedo style layering with black ink on white cardstock on a black piece of cardstock. Sometimes that’s the easiest way to go.

I did add a subtle bit of sparkle over the stamped sentiments with an atyouSpica Twinkling Like Stars! pen in Pitch Black. I don’t know if they even make these anymore but I often use it when I need just a hint of sparkle. The ink of the pen blends in perfectly with my black dye ink so that you only notice the twinkle.

I offset the sentiment to the corners of the arches because they just looked better that way and had the floral sprigs tucked and glued behind them.
This has been my first card design in my Color Combo Card Series Challenge using Concord & 9th dye inks by various card designers. What cards have you designed using these color combos? Which colors are your favorites to use together?
