This holiday card style was more labor intensive. Many, many die cuts of various cardstock colors. The die set is Papertrey Ink’s Into the Blooms, Christmas Sprigs set. I really love this set and see it having potential beyond holiday themes. In this card I did a light stenciling with Concord & 9th’s (C9) Ballet Slipper over their Quirky Stripe Stencil as a subtle background.

I used Altenew’s Brushed Gold Metallic card stock along with C9’s Ballet Slipper, Midnight and white card stocks. Love these colors together.

Primarily I used embossing folders for my backgrounds. Stayed with a white embossed base and my two favorite folders for this holiday card are Vine Canopy and Twining Berries both from Simon Says Stamp. These embossing folders are the 3D type and are thicker so I had to use the Platinum 6 die machine from Spellbinders to run them through.
The sentiments are from C9’s Holiday Sayings Dies which include the following sentiments: Very Merry, Deck the Halls, Joy, Ho Ho Ho and Peace. After cutting, arranging and gluing all of the sprigs I decided to stop there and not add any additional embellishments or shiny bling. I like to think of these cards as being more sophisticated in style than the watercolors.
Yet still one can play with variation…

A natural card base embossed with green, black and red. I think that the red really stands out and works with the natural color card base. I tried the red sentiment on the white embossed base and it just didn’t work as well for me as using it here. All of the other Christmas cards with a similar design of springs/ embossed base I kept the sentiment as black/ white.
This wraps up all of the Christmas cards designs that I used to build up to my target of fifty cards. There were other styles I tried that didn’t work as well for me so those won’t be showing up in anyone’s mailbox come December!
Enjoy!
